Los Chamanes is an ensemble serving a fusion rooted in Latin-American folklore and Nueva Cancion, with flavors of blues, jazz and rock that was born from the spirit of friendship within these Chilean expatriates in NYC, a nostalgia for their native culture and the magic of the Andes. In September 2008 they released their first album, Conjuros, available on CD and digital downloads and are presently recording their second album, which will feature guest artists from the NYC Latin jazz scene.
Initially, the band interpreted songs from authors of Chile and Argentina such as Violeta Parra, Victor Jara, Congreso, Fito Páez, Peteco Carabajal etc. With time, they have increasingly incorporated their own compositions, which now represent most of their repertoire, through which they hope to guide their listeners to reflect on issues such as social injustice and our behavior as a species, through the healing and inspiring power of music and poetry.
Los Chamanes hold a monthly residency at Terraza in Queens, and have performed at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, for the Chile Independence yearly event in Randall's Island, they have opened the concerts of Fernando Ubiergo and Mariana Baraj, and have appeared in various "peñas" (folkloric shows), cafés, restaurants and events in the NY TriState area. In 2009 they were twice on tour in Puerto Rico. They performed in Old San Juan at the Noche de Viaje Cultural, event organized by the Chilean community in association with the City, they were invited on two shows of the Radio of the University of PR, and at the TV show Buenas Noches con Silverio on Canal 13. Recently they have contributed to various benefits for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Chile.

Los Chamanes es una agrupación regalando una fusión enraizada en el folklore latinoamericano y en la Nueva Canción con sabores de jazz, rock y blues, la cual nació del espíritu de amistad entre aquellos inmigrantes chilenos en Nueva York, una nostalgia por su cultura natal y la magia de la Cordillera de Los Andes. En Septiembre de 2008 lanzaron su primer álbum, Conjuros, disponible en CD y cargamentos digitales y estan en el proceso de grabar su segundo album, con artistas invitados del escenario jazz Latino de Nueva York.
En sus inicios, la banda interpretaba canciones de los grandes autores de Chile y Argentina tales como Violeta Parra, Víctor Jara, Congreso, Fito Páez, Peteco Carabajal etc. Con tiempo, ha ido incorporando sus propias composiciones, las cuales hoy representan la mayor parte de su repertorio, y con cual espera llevar su público a reflexionar sobre temas tal como las injusticia social y nuestras acciones como especia, haciendo uso del poder de sanación de la música y la poesía.
Los Chamanes tienen un toque fijo mensual a la Terraza 7 Train de Queens, se han presentado en el Nuyorican Poets Cafe, en el evento de la Independencia de Chile en Randall’s Island, también abrieron los conciertos de Fernando Ubiergo y de Mariana Baraj, y participaron en varias peñas y eventos en toda la región de Nueva York. En el 2009 realizaron dos giras a Puerto Rico, presentándose en El Viejo San Juan para las “Noches de Viajes Culturales”, evento organizado por la comunidad chilena en conjunto con el municipio de San Juan, también fueron invitados a dos programas de La Radio de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, y al programa “Buenas Noches con Silverio” en Canal 13 de televisión. En 2010 han tocado en varios eventos de beneficio a las víctimas del terremoto en Chile.
