Claudio Sánchez was born of a folk singer father and with his bothers was part of the chorus of the San Antonio seaport. He studied Pedagogy in Musical Education at the University of Playa Ancha in Valparaíso, took classes of Chilean Folklore with Valentín Souza and Margot Loyola, and went on to teaching music and folklore to children and adults for a few years. In Copiapó, he was one of the founders of the cultural center of the University of Atacama. Claudio later was guitarist and director of the band Pucoyán, with whom he participated in various festivals: the Festival of San Bernardo, the Cuecas Mil of San Bernardo, the Festival of Caleta el Membrillo in Valparaiso, the Traditional Festival in Castro, the National Argentinean Festival in Río Tercero and more. With Pucoyán he traveled through a large part of Chile and recorded an album under the direction of Eugenio González (el Tiquitiqui). He appeared in shows with Margot Loyola, Jorge Yañez and other known folklorists. He participated in a few programs of Channel 4 in Valparaiso. He also formed the band Raiquen. In 2000 he came to New York and kept nourishing his musical thirst: he formed the band Kultrún which whom he participated in the Chilean Festival of Miami in 2006, he created the folkloric series of events (peña) “La Cantora” in Long Island, featuring artists of the South American folklore such as Tito Fernández, and directed the Hispanic Chorus of the Holy Name of Mary Church of Valley Stream.

 Claudio Sánchez nació de un padre cantor popular y junto a sus hermanos fue integrante del coro del Puerto de San Antonio. Estudió Pedagogía en Educación Musical en la Universidad de Playa Ancha, tomó cursos de folklore chileno con Valentín Souza y Margot Loyola, luego enseño la música y el folklore a niños y adultos por algunos años. En Copiapó, fue parte de los fundadores del centro cultural de la Universidad de Atacama. Luego fue guitarrista y director del grupo Pucoyán, con quienes participo en varios festivales: el Festival de San Bernardo, las Cuecas Mil de San Bernardo, Festival de Caleta el Membrillo (Valparaíso), Festival Costumbrista en Castro,  Festival Nacional Argentino en Río Tercero y otros. Con Pucoyán recorrió gran parte de Chile y grabo un álbum bajo la dirección de Eugenio González (el Tiquitiqui). Tuvo presentaciones con Margot Loyola, Jorge Yañez y otros destacados folkloristas. Participó en algunos programas del Canal 4 de Valparaíso. Formó y dirigió el grupo folklórico Raiquen. En el año 2000 vino a NY, y siguió nutriendo su sed musical: formó el grupo Kultrún con quien participó en el Festival Chileno de Miami en 2006, creó la Peña “La Cantora” en Long Island, trayendo artistas del folklore Latino Americano tal como Tito Fernández “El Temucano”, y guió el Coro Hispano de la Iglesia “Holy Name of Mary” de Valley Stream.
